A few things this week have inspired me to write this post of things I believe. Of course, the problem with any statement like the one that follows, is it’s static nature. This is what I currently believe. Over time, I do expect that my understanding and beliefs should and will continue to develop and purify. So with that in mind, here’s a list of beliefs, though hardly exhaustive and completely off the cuff, that I currently hold (in no particular order).
Woh, woh, woh!
“For a while” he became man?! Tell me I’m misreading that!
#11 notwithstanding, perhaps that phrase in #1, “For a while” is misplaced? Were this my list, I’d move the phrase to after the word “here” in that sentence.
To continue conversation, Burt, what is the answer to the question posed with #6?
Graham…just made the change…I definitely meant the “while” to refer to time on earth! Sorry about any confusion.
As for #6 – I could quickly answer that…but I’m inclined for a bit to let the reader ponder. What would you say?
Kind of curious about the “why” myself. Can’t be because he needed or wanted us as God in theory doesn’t need or want anything.
Man, this is a great list! What I like best is that none is really independant of the others…they all are interdependant to understanding Christianity.
And for number six, I think the answer is in John 3:16 “For God so Loved…” LOVE being the key word.
this is one of those posts you want to cut and paste and say yip i wrote this – cos it is fabulously good and also lines up with what i believe but said so much better than i could ever phrase it.
Thanks for the clarification, Burt!
I hope I didn’t seem like an example of #11. 🙂
Not at all, graham.
Besides, I’m working on numbers 12 and 13 anyway.
The call to love others is not merely so that we can pass some kind of spiritual test, rather it is meant to be our way of life.
